The Federal Hotel Nimmitabel is a heritage listed site based on accommodation, bar, bistro and entertainment. The hotel serves the immediate Nimmitabel district and surrounding Monaro region in south eastern New South Wales, Australia.

Situated on the co-joined Monaro and Snow Mountains Highways its is midway between Melbourne and Sydney or just 90 minutes south of Canberra. It is a wondeful place to explore the south coast beaches, escarpment South East National Park forests and Snowy Mountains.

At an elevation of some 1,100 metres The Federal Hotel Nimmitabel is the highest continual licensed hotel in Australia spanning 3 centuries - 1800s, 1900s, 2000s.

As a central part of the Nimmitabel and regional Monaro community the Federal Hotel has been the site of births, deaths as well as many celebrations and events. Many entertainers and celebrities have performed, rested or had a meal here over the years. Its appearance has changed in various shades of paint with internal structure and decoration reflecting different tastes in time. Like its creator this small regional country pub has its special place in history and we are proud to restore its dignity.
